A Legacy of Caring for Generations

McKenzie HealthCare has a long-standing history of serving the community. It all began in 1946 when The Pines, now known as McKenzie Lodge, was purchased with the intention of building a general hospital. Over the years, our facility evolved and adapted to the changing needs of the Geraldine community.

In 1960, the Geraldine Maternity Hospital was completed, and Rawhiti House transitioned into a Geriatric Home. Sister Mary Oram, a beloved figure in the district, led the hospital for 26 years before retiring in 1986. Sister Shirley Garnett succeeded her, ensuring the continuity of compassionate care.

In response to the evolving needs of our community, McKenzie HealthCare has grown to encompass not only aged care services but also a lifestyle village. In 2007, McKenzie became the proud owners, embracing a forward-thinking vision for our facility.

Our state-of-the-art extension houses a beautiful purpose-built facility, including an expanded hospital, dementia care, and rest home services. This growth reflects our dedication to meeting the growing needs and desires of our community.
